Turkish Marbling Workshop, May 20, 2p

Ceramic and installation artist Sharbani Das Gupta will lead a workshop on the Turkish marbling technique known as Ebru at the Museum of Art on Saturday, May 20 at 2pm. Usually completed on paper, Das Gupta has adapted the art form for ceramics.

Born in Mumbai, India, Das Gupta currently lives and works in Las Cruces. She studied at the National Institute of Design in Gujurat, India, and considers her herself a socio-political artist and activist. Her work in The New Romantic reflects her interest in the socio-environmental world and advocacy for a sustainable future.

The workshop is being offered in conjunction with the current exhibition The New Romantic: Visions of the 20th Century Landscape. The workshop is free, but registration is required. Participants must be at least 12 years old. To register, please visit the museum or call 575.541.3330.

Admission to the City of Las Cruces Museums are free. The museums are located downtown and are open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4:30pm and Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. For additional information, visit the website at: museums.las-cruces.org.
