Reading Art Book Club meets next on Wednesday, March 13, at 2:30pm

The Reading Art Book Club meets next on Wednesday, March 13, at 2:30pm in the Las Cruces Museum of Art. This month’s selection is The Secret Life of Salvador Dali by Salvador Dali.

Painter, designer, and filmmaker Salvador Dali (1904-1989) was one of the most colorful and controversial figures in 20th-century art. A pioneer of surrealism, he was both praised and reviled for the subconscious imagery he projected into his paintings, which he sometimes referred to as “hand-painted dream photographs.”

This early autobiography, which takes him through his late thirties, is as startling and unpredictable as his art. Its is illustrated with over eighty photographs of Dali and his works, and scores of his drawings and sketches.

The Reading Art Book Club meetings are free and open to the public. Join us even if you haven’t read the book! For more information or for details on book selections, contact Bryan Lee, Museum Curator of Education, at 575-541-2217 or blee@las-cruces.org.

The museum is located at 491 North Main Street and is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4:30pm and Saturdays from 9am to 4:30pm.
