The Branigan Cultural Center will host the New Mexico Watercolor Society–Southern Chapter Spring 2016 Juried Member Show, Our Living Culture. The exhibit opens Friday, April 1, and will be on display through Saturday, May 21, 2016. A reception, with several of the artists in attendance, will be held Friday, April 1, from 5pm to 7pm.
Comprised of watercolor paintings by over 20 artists, Our Living Culture showcases the various styles of the talented members of the Southern Chapter of the New Mexico Watercolor Society. The exhibit invites viewers to enjoy an assortment of realist and abstract paintings, which showcases the diversity of watercolor as a medium.
The New Mexico Watercolor Society was founded in 1975 with the purpose of elevating the stature of this artistic medium, educating the public about the significance of watercolor, and making New Mexico known nationally for its watercolorists. The Southern Chapter was founded in 2001 and makes up over one-fourth of the Society’s statewide membership. Members offer and are invited to attend watercolor-themed exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, and artist talks.
The Branigan Cultural Center is located at 501 North Main Street and is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4:30pm, Thursday from 10am to 8pm, and Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. For additional information, visit the website, http://las-cruces.org/museums or call 575-541-2154.
