Artists’ talk featuring The New Romantic: Views of the 20th Century Landscape, May 6, 2p

Join artists Sharbani Das Gupta and Scott Greene for a discussion of their exhibition, The New Romantic: Views of the 20th Century Landscape, at 2pm on Saturday, May 6, in the Museum of Art.

Both artists make work that mirrors their concern for the often-destructive human impact on the environment. Greene’s oil paintings, crafted in a style reminiscent of Romantic-era paintings, depict landscapes littered with the detritus of human consumption, alluding to the death throes of nature caused by the industrial era. Das Gupta’s multi-media installations reflect upon humanity’s assaults on the natural world while hinting at the possibility of regeneration.

Admission to the City of Las Cruces Museums are free. The museums are located on the downtown mall and are open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4:30pm and Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. For additional information, visit the website at: museums.las-cruces.org.

If you need an accommodation for a disability to enable you to fully participate in this event, please contact the museum 48 hours prior to the event.
