Branigan Cultural Center presents documentary on famed pottery maker Maria Martinez

On Saturday, Jan. 19, from 1-2pm, please join us for a viewing of the documentary “Classic Maria Martinez: Native American Pottery Maker of San Ildefonso (History Channel)”.  Maria Martinez, noted Native American pottery maker, demonstrates the traditional San Ildefonso ways of pottery making, beginning with the spreading of corn pollen before clay is gathered. Also shown are the mixing of the clay, construction of pottery, hand decorating and building of the firing mound. Total running time 47 minutes.

The Branigan Cultural Center is located downtown next to the Museum of Art at 501 N. Main Street.  Admission to the program and galleries is free.  Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am to 4:30 pm.
