Experiments with Watercolors Workshop

In conjunction with its exhibition, New Canvases and Textures of My Mind by the New Mexico Watercolor Society-Southern Chapter, the Branigan Cultural Center will host a workshop on watercolor techniques. The workshop takes place Saturday, June 21 at 12 pm. The program is free and open to the public.

Watercolors are one of the most recognized and loved forms of painting and lend themselves to a diversity of styles. The unique properties of water-based paints allows them to be combined with different materials to create new effects. We will experiment with a range of papers and see how the watercolors look on different canvases. We will also mix watercolors with oil pastels, crayons, and even a few ingredients from the kitchen. How far can you take this medium? What new effects will you create by mixing watercolors? Join us for this exploratory afternoon!

The Branigan Cultural Center is located at 501 North Main Street. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. For more information, contact the Branigan Cultural Center at (575) 541-2154 or visit the Center’s website at las-cruces.org/museums.
