“Exploring the Birth of Rocky Planets: The InSight Mission to Mars,” Feb. 20 at the Museum of

The Museum of Nature & Science presents the “Active Galaxy Lecture Series – Exploring the Birth of Rocky Planets: The InSight Mission to Mars” with guest speaker Richard Pacheco on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at 5:30pm.

Launched May 5, 2018, the Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport (InSight) mission uses a robotic lander designed to study the deep interior of the planet Mars. We will discuss the mission science, overview of the mission, and any new updates since its successful landing on Mars on November 26, 2018!

Richard Pacheco is a Solar System Ambassador for NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He graduated from Oñate High School and joined the US Army where he proudly served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He then worked for the Department of Defense as a contractor for several years while he attended various technical schools. He now works for NASA as an IT Security Administrator.
