“Hoover Dam” Film Screening

The Branigan Cultural Center hosts a screening of the A&E Modern Marvels documentary The Hoover Dam on Saturday, March 22 at 1 pm, accompanying the exhibit The Building of the Hoover Dam: Photographs by Winthrop A. Davis 1930-1934.

The History Channel’s well-known series on Modern Marvels covers great accomplishments of engineering and architecture. The Hoover Dam clearly holds a place in this series and the documentary will immerse viewers in the world of the 1930s American West. Taking a look at the challenges and promise of the dam project, the documentary combines commentary, archival footage, and analysis of the controversy surrounding the building of the dam. Join us to learn more about this colossal construction project. This screening is free and open to the public.

The Hoover Dam exhibit and related programming was made possible in part by  the Retired Faculty Association of the University of Colorado.

The Branigan Cultural Center is located at 501 North Main Street. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. For more information, contact the Branigan Cultural Center at (575) 541-2154 or visit the Center’s website at las-cruces.org/museums.
