“Latino Folktales: Cuentos Populares – Art by Latino Artists” and “Artist/Illustrator” at the

Two exhibitions featuring the work of award-winning illustrators and artists open at the Las Cruces Museum of Art on Friday, September 21 and close on Saturday, November 24.  An opening reception will be held on Friday, October 5 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm during the monthly Ramble.

“Latino Folktales: Cuentos Populares – Art by Latino Artists,” an exhibition of the works of twelve award-winning illustrators, is comprised of illustration art published in children’s picture books such as “The First Tortilla”, “Juan and the Jackalope”, “The Bossy Gallito”, and dozens of other stories.  The artists “…focus their lively imaginations, distinctive styles and colorful palettes” to bring the tales to life.

“Artist/Illustrator” featuring the work of three local artists also opens on Friday, September 21. The illustration and fine art works of Gaspar Enriquez, Gloria Osuna-Perez, and Antonio Castro L. will be on display through Saturday, November 24.  The artists have had flourishing careers in the fine arts as well as a successful careers in the field of illustration.

Funded by the City of Las Cruces, the Las Cruces Museum of Art is located at 491 N. Main Street, next to Branigan Cultural Center.  Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.  The Museum is closed Sundays and Mondays.
