Los Angeles modern dance company Benita Bike’s DanceArt will present an interactive dance program at the Branigan Cultural Center on Saturday, February 25th at 2:00pm. The program will teach audiences how dancers create their dances. This free dance show is suitable for adults, children, seniors.
Benita Bike’s DanceArt has performed across New England, in Europe and throughout California during its 35-year history. This five-member modern dance company has
received praise for its quality concert work and its extensive community outreach programming. Like a string quintet, the dancers of Benita Bike’s DanceArt perform with uncommon sensitivity to one another, bringing intense beauty and vibrancy to each delicately crafted, expressive movement.
The Las Cruces performance will feature “Renaissance 5,” “On Beat 3,” and “Old Postcards from Europe.” “Renaissance 5,” set to bawdy 16th century drinking music is a dancey quintet infused with energy and innocence. Dance reviewer Jeff Slayton of SeeDance.com describes “On Beat 3” as “a rapid-fire movement piece driven by the music Tin Play by Swedish composer Per Andreessen.” “Old Postcards from Europe” is a romantic interpretation of found antique postcards with a remembrance of those who perished in the Holocaust (WWII).
