Mirage, featuring works on paper by Ellen Wetmore, opens in the Branigan Cultural Center on Friday, February 2, and continues through Saturday, March 24. A reception will be held on Friday, February 2, from 5pm to 8pm, during the Downtown Ramble.
In her exhibition Mirage, mixed media artist Ellen Wetmore of Groton, Massachusetts, creates a visual diary of her visit to New Mexico. Using marble paper and ink drawing techniques, the artist creates personal reflections of desert landscapes- impressions that are both surreal and familiar. Wetmore says, “I call this exhibition Mirage because the images aren’t always what the viewer thinks they are. Longer looking is rewarded.”
The museum is located at 501 N. Main Street and is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4:30pm and Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. For additional information, visit the website at: http://las-cruces.org/museums or call 575-541-2154.
If you need an accommodation for a disability to enable you to fully participate in this event please contact the museum 48 hours prior to the event.
