Reading Art Book Club

The next meeting of the Reading Art Book Club is on Wednesday, March 13 at the Las Cruces Museum of Art. The Book Club is dedicated to exploring the connections between art and literature through reading and discussing books. Selected literature relates to the Museum of Art’s varied exhibitions.

The Wednesday, March 13 meeting begins at 2:00 PM with the showing of a video on the Metropolitan Museum’s collection of art from the Middle Ages, Glories of Medieval Art: The Cloisters.

Discussion of this month’s Book Club selection, The Lady and the Unicorn, begins at 2:30pm. Author Tracy Chevalier uncovers the mystery behind one of the art world’s great masterpieces—a set of bewitching medieval tapestries that hangs in the Cluny Museum in Paris.

Funded by the City of Las Cruces, the Las Cruces Museum of Art is located at 491 N. Main Street, next to Branigan Cultural Center. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The Museum is closed Sundays and Mondays. For more information, call (575) 541-2137 or visit the website www.las-cruces.org/museums.
