The next meeting of the Reading Art Book Club is on Wednesday, November 14 at 2:30pm at the Las Cruces Museum of Art. The Book Club is dedicated to exploring the connections between art and literature through reading and discussing books. Selected literature relates to the Museum of Art’s varied exhibitions. The Reading Art Book Club meets the second Wednesday of every month at 2:30 at the Las Cruces Museum of Art.
The selection for Wednesday, November 14 is Claude & Camille: A Novel of Monet by Stephanie Cowell. The author tells the story of the young, unknown Claude Monet and his great love and muse Camille Doncieux. The Great Artists DVD “Monet” will be shown at 1:30 p.m. The Wednesday, December 14 selection is Peter Ackroyd’s J.M.W. Turner. Ackroyd’s biography focuses on the life and work of perhaps the most original of all English Painters, James Mallord William Turner. A National Gallery of Art DVD “JMW Turner” will be shown at 2:00 p.m.
