Join us for our monthly lecture, “History Notes”, as the League of Women Voters presents “Study and Action: 50 years of the League of Women Voters in Las Cruces- Reminiscing,” on Thursday, August 9 at 1pm at the Branigan Cultural Center.
For 50 years, the League of Women Voters have provided the Las Cruces community with various civic services. The League has studied issues such as affordable housing and public education and through those issues they motivate the community to be involved with government issues. They provide services for the community such as voter registration, candidate forums, and voter guides, to assist the community in having unbiased, nonpartisan information when exercising their right to vote.
For “History Notes”, a panel of women from the League will discuss their history over the past 50 years. They will also talk about their role in the lives of those in the Las Cruces community as well as their role in local, state, and national government activism.
Admission is free to the Branigan Cultural Center, located at 501 North Main Street. The
museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4:30pm, and Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. Enjoy special summer evening hours when the museum is open until 8pm on Wednesdays. For addition information, call 575-541-2154.
