Summer Fun with the LC Museums Summer Programs

Beat the heat this summer at the Las Cruces Museums with their 2016 Summer Programs! The Las Cruces Museums will be hosting a series of classes and programs for people of all ages. Activities begin early in June and run until August.

Explore science, art, history and culture at all four City of Las Cruces Museums.

Museum of Nature and Science Summer Classes

  1. Plastics Unwrapped Camp June 27-July 1

  2. Recycled Art Workshop June 27-July 1

  3. Our Changing Climate Workshop July 12-13

  4. Brain Games Workshop July 19-20

Camps run on a Monday through Friday schedule. Workshops are two consecutive afternoons, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost to attend varies, for more information on the classes please call (575) 522-3120.

Branigan Cultural Center Workshops

  1. Retablos June 21 and 23 & July 19 and 21

  2. Wood Burning Design June 28 and 30 & July 26 and 28

  3. Piñatas July 5 and 7

  4. Southwestern Polymer and Clay Jewelry July 12 and 14

Workshops will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and are open to children ages 7-12. The cost to attend each workshop is $10. For more information on the workshops, please call (575) 541-2154.

Youth Classes

Adult Classes

  1. Beginning Ceramics Printmaking

  2. Intermediate/Advanced Ceramics Collage

  3. Beginning Oil Painting Landscapes

  4. Figure Drawing Still Life

Classes meet weekly on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Ceramics classes cost $110; all other classes are $60.

SNAP! Blending Art and Science

  1. Every Saturday this summer

This FREE family program will be held in the atrium between the Museum of Art and the Museum of Nature and Science. The SNAP! Program encourages visitors to embrace their artistic creativity while engaging inn activities inspired by science, technology, engineering, art and architecture and mathematics. The program is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., for more information on the SNAP! Program please call (575) 541-2154.
