The Branigan Cultural Center presents Masterworks: Googlepaedic Narrations and the Dysfunction of Damage, an exhibit by Shaurya Kumar. This show opens on Friday, March 1 and concludes on Saturday, March 30.
According to Professor Kumar, Masterworks: Googlepaedic Narrations and the Dysfunction of Damage, addresses his “… own personal displacement from (his) native environment and cultural roots, and will be virtual interpretation of my memories of ancient murals that I experienced during my travels to remote villages and temples in India.” Through the use of the digital methods of printing, Mr. Kumar brings a new and unique approach to experience history and culture.
Shaurya Kumar is an assistant professor in the Department of Printmedia at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Professor Kumar received his MFA from the UT Knoxville, in 2007 and his BFA from the University of Delhi in India in 2002. His works have been exhibited nationally and internationally.
