On Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM Jim Romberg, ceramicist and juror for From the Ground Up XXVI, will hold a gallery talk and discuss the works selected into this unique biennial ceramics exhibition.
Jim Romberg is a Professor Emeritus from Southern Oregon University. He currently lives in Sedona, Arizona where he maintains a studio and is program director for the Eagleheart Center for Art and Inquiry. He has done workshops throughout the United States, France, and Switzerland that focus the development of new forms and raku (an ancient pottery technique with origins in 16th century Japan). Romberg is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics and the National Council on Education in the Ceramic Arts (NCECA). He was the project director for the International Symposium on Developing Criticism in Contemporary Ceramics in Santa Fe.
From the Ground Up XXVI is a regional juried ceramics exhibition that is hosted by the Potter’s Guild of Las Cruces and the Las Cruces Museum of Art. The exhibition opens at 5:00 PM on Friday, September 6. Mr. Romberg will present the awards at 6:00 PM.
The Museum of Art is funded by the City of Las Cruces and located at 491 N. Main Street next to the Branigan Cultural Center and the Museum of Nature & Science. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The Museum is closed Sundays and Mondays.
