“Essence of New Mexico” Photo Exhibit at MoNaS

The Museum of Nature & Science is proud to present the art of local Las Cruces photographer, Pamela Needham. Her collection of photographsEssence of New Mexico, highlight the beauty of the Chihuahuan Desert and will hang in the museum atrium through Saturday, April 4, 2015.

Self-taught photographer Pamela Needham has been taking pictures as a hobby for over fifteen years. When she began working with a digital camera, she became more serious about her work.  As a hobbyist, she gave her photographs to friends, but it wasn’t long before people were requesting to buy them. Three years ago, Needham started her photography business, Uniquely Me.

Needham does not digitally alter her photographs beyond cropping and slight corrections, but the flexibility and capacity afforded by digital cameras allowed her to indulge her love for New Mexico’s flora, fauna, and landscape. Originally from the Oklahoma Panhandle, Needham has considered New Mexico her home since she arrived in 1978, and most of her photography captures the greater Las Cruces area. “I love this state,” she said. “It’s so diverse and gorgeous.”

The Museum of Nature & Science is located at 411 N. Main Street and is open Tuesdays – Saturdays from 9:00am – 4:30 pm.  All of the City of Las Cruces Museums are free and open to the public.

If you need an accommodation for a disability to enable you to fully participate in this event please contact the museum 48 hours prior to the event.
