Registration for summer art classes at the Las Cruces Museum of Art is in full swing! Four-day children’s classes begin on June 3, with new sessions starting each week. Class schedules and registration forms are available at the museum and on the website www.tinyurl.com/lcmuseums.
Perennial favorites such as comic book art, nature drawing, puppet making, ceramics, world art, and mixed media are on tap. A new class titled Chicano Art Infusion draws inspiration from the Museum of Art’s summer exhibition Chicanitas: Small Paintings from the Cheech Marin Collection, open through July 19. Still life and figure drawing are great options for blossoming teen artists.
Classes for adults include ceramics, glass fusing, and two workshops with artist Michael Poncé on beginning painting and painting from photography.
All children’s classes are $60, and adult classes range from $60 – $110. The Museum of Art accepts registrations with credit cards, checks, and cash during business hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 8am to 5pm. The Museum of Art is closed Sunday and Monday.
Funded by the City of Las Cruces, the Las Cruces Museum of Art is located at 491 N. Main Street at the north end of the downtown mall. For more information, call (575) 541-2137 or visit the website www.las-cruces.org/museums
